Kaua’i

We took a long weekend trip to Kaua’i to celebrate Kahele’s grandmother’s life. The service was held at the quaint little Hui’ai church in Wai’oli district. We gathered for lunch under tents set up on the grounds of the Wai’oli mission hall. She had passed away shortly after Thanksgiving in Palm Springs, and the family wanted to bring her home to spread her ashes at Hanalei Bay. Despite our hopes, the weather was rainy and windy, making it impossible to scatter her ashes as planned. Instead, we released flowers in her honor, deciding to spread her ashes at a later date. Even though the weather wasn’t ideal it was still such a beautiful day with the picturesque surroundings providing a perfect serene backdrop or our remembrance.
